Non EU/EEA citizens

In addition to the requirements to EU/EEA citizens, student applicants need to apply for a student visa at the Embassy/Consulate at the Federal Republic of Germany in your home country. Note, that this should be done well in advance of your departure.

Students from EU nations, EFTA countries, USA and Japan do not need a student visa for entry into Germany. A valid passport or form of identification is sufficient. For a complete list of German Embassies and Consulates click here

Please do not travel to Germany on a tourist visa! Once in Germany, this cannot be changed into a student visa nor can you obtain a residence permit based on a tourist visa. More comprehensive information regarding visa application requirements is available from your German Embassy or Consulate.
